Policy US Bill Banning Vape Mail Was Signed Into Law

Preventing Online Sales of E-Cigarettes to Children Act,has recently passed the house, and was subsequently signed into law by President Trump on the 27th of December. This bill bans all shipments of vaping products by the US Postal Service, and forces all other postal delivery services (such as UPS, FedEx, or DHL) to check IDs and obtain signatures of adults at points of delivery.

The adult signatures requirement naturally presents its own set of challenges, as most deliveries happen during business hours when the majority of adults are at their place of employment. Therefore, the procurment of signatures will add additional costs, when receieving deliveries via the already more expensive private carriers.

S 1253 aims to prevent underage online sales

On the otherhand, aside the challenges that adult vapers are likely to face, the bill is expected to limit teen access to vaping products, by restricting online sales. The inclusion of these critical protections against the online sale of e-cigarettes to children will prevent countless illnesses and save lives, said Congresswoman DeLauro.
