Whirl S2 pod kit is the latest release from Uwell and a more modern take on the popular Whirl vape pen.
Whirl S2 is a vape pen/pod hybrid. Styled like a traditional vape pen but with all the benefits of a pod system.
It features a 900mAh internal battery with a 17W max output, adjustable airflow, and Type C charging.
The pod that comes with Whirl S2 has a 3.5ml capacity and utilizes mesh coils. There is a 0.8Ω and 1.2Ω coil included in the kit.
Uwell Whirl S2 pod kit is available in 6 color variations: Black, Red, Blue, Green, Silver, and Brown.
Design & Style
The best way I can describe Whirl S2 is that sometimes there’s beauty in simplicity.
Whirl S2 doesn’t try to be too fancy with its styling. Instead, it follows a design format have traditional vape pens.
It is a 20mm circumference tube with a tinted pod section at the top. Whirl S2 only measures 105mm tall, so it is also incredibly compact.
I find it more satisfying and comfortable to hold a pen-style pod like this compared to something that resembles a stretched-out USB stick.
The body of Whirl S2 has a matte finish with nice subtle branding on the section. There’s also a concave plastic bottom section that enables it to sit perfectly on a tabletop.
The rest of the device keeps up the minimalistic styling. There is a fire button on the front that has a grooved pattern to make it easy to feel for.
Sadly it does sit quite flush with the device. I would’ve preferred it to protrude slightly more, so it’s easier to find in the dark. The main reason being Whirl S2 does not have auto-draw activation, and you need to press the fire button each time to vape.
On the top sides of the S2 are two small inlets. One is just for cosmetics, and the other is an airflow slot.
On the back of Whirl S2 device, you will find the USB Type C port. It sits relatively high up, but I prefer this placement to the base as it prevents grit or dirt from getting in the port.
I think Uwell has done a good job with the color options, there’s plenty to choose from, and most are stylish and sleek looking.
Overall Whirl S2 is a simple but attractive little pod kit. It has the excellent build quality and is as pocket friendly as they come.
Features
Uwell Whirl S2 isn’t stacked full of features, as it’s tailored towards ease of use.
It features a 900mAh internal battery that can be charged via USB Type C at a charge rate of 1A.
There are no adjustable power settings. Instead, it sets the power output based on the resistance of the coil attached.
The S2 is also lacking an auto-draw trigger, which is a shame. Instead, it has to be operated manually using the fire button.
However, it does feature adjustable airflow. This is done by rotating the pod while it’s connected to the device.
There is a small LED light that sits above the fire button and will indicate your battery status with the following colors:
l Green light = 60-100%
l Blue light = 30-60%
l Red light = 0-30%
Operating Whirls S2 couldn’t be any simpler:
l On/Off – 5 clicks of the fire button
l Fire the device by pressing the Fire button.
S2 Pod
Whirl S2 comes with one pod in the kit, which has a 3.5ml juice capacity.
I assume this will be reduced to 2ml capacity in TPD areas.
The pod is slightly tinted, but you can easily see your juice level all the way to the base.
The pod connects to the device via press-fit. It’s a nice snug fit and clicks into place but remains easy enough to pull out.
This is essential as the fill port for the pod is on the base. It has a red plastic section that contains a rubber plug sealing the fill port.
The fill port is an ample size, and I’ve had no issues filling the pod. Also, it does not get any air bubbles while filling, which is good.
You notice on the pod’s base that the red section has two protruding pieces. These work as your airflow openings when you rotate the pod.
Airflow
While the pod is connected to the device, you simply rotate it to control the airflow.
You will notice while rotating it that the rest plastic becomes visible as it blocks off the airflow inlet. I’m glad that Uwell used red color as it’s such a small air hole it would be hard to gauge when it was blocked off with a different color.
The pod is easy to rotate and holds in place reasonably well. The only minor gripe I have with the system is each time I remove the pod to fill it, I need to align my airflow again.
Coils
Whirl S2 uses replaceable coils in the pod. They are simple press-to-fit coils and are easy to place and remove from the pod.
There are two coils included in the kit:
l 0.8Ω – FeCrAl UN2 Meshed-H coil
l 1.2Ω – FeCrAl Meshed-H coil
I believe these coils are solely for Whirl S2 device and are not cross-compatible with any other Uwell product.
Drip Tips
A rather unique aspect of Whirl S2 is that it comes with two different style drip tips.
The first is a plastic 510 drip tip that we are accustomed to with these styles of devices.
However, the other drip tip style is far more interesting. It is a Fiber Filter tip.
It is designed to resemble and mimic the tip of a cigarette. Again, it’s something we’ve seen before in the Innokin FTLR, and like that device, I think it goes well with Whirl S2.
The S2 is aimed at beginner vapers or those transitioning from smoking, and including two of these Fiber Filter tips will definitely make them feel more comfortable when vaping.
I really enjoyed using the Fiber tips, as they are super comfortable and soft to use. They also give you a slightly tighter draw.
However, after a while, they do tend to soak up all the residue of vape juice. So they won’t last you too long, and you may have to purchase separate tips from Uwell.
That, for me, was enough to go back to using the regular plastic 510 drip tip, which is still perfectly comfortable and ideal for the device.
Performance
It’s no secret that Uwell makes great pod systems, and Whirl S2 is another excellent addition to the line-up.
It’s a no-nonsense pod device that’s incredibly easy to use, but most importantly, it really delivers on performance.
The adjustable airflow works well, allowing you to go from a tight MTL with the airflow closed off to a loose MTL with it fully open. Of course, you won’t be able to direct lung the device, but that’s not what it’s designed for.
The draw is also very smooth from the airflow, which is good as it’s only really coming in from one side.
The new S2 coils also hit brilliantly.
The 0.8Ω really surprised me how much it hit for an MTL coil. It delivers an instant warm and exceptional flavorful vape.
The 1.2Ω is also no slouch for a high-resistance coil. It also delivers fantastic flavor but is just on the cooler side.
I think the 1.2Ω is the coil to mainly go for with the S2 as it’s still outstanding on the performance and really helps that 900mAh keep going.
It’s also worth mentioning that the longevity and lifespan of the S2 coils have also been fantastic. I’ve been using a 70VG juice with both of them, and they are still going strong after 10 days and many refills.
I think the 1.2Ω is holding up a little better with the flavor production, which is another reason why it’s my preferred coil.
The battery life of the S2 is good, especially with the higher resistance coil. I could make it through a whole day vaping with both, but as you’d expect, it gets close to 0.8Ω.
It’s a real shame Whirl S2 does not have an auto-draw trigger, as it could well be the perfect little pod system.
That being said, I think its ease of use, minimalist design, and excellent performance more than makeup for it.

Final Review Verdict
In my opinion, Whirl S2 is another homerun by Uwell.
It’s the ideal device for beginner vapers or smokers looking to transition to vaping. The included Fiber Filter drip tips are a nice addition to this.
The S2 delivers very good adjustable airflow and exceptional performance and flavor from both included coils. It’s also a very compact and pocket-friendly device with great build quality.
More importantly, the performance delivered by the two included coils is excellent.
In fact, it’s soo good that Whirl S2 has now made its way into my rotation as one of my go-to pod systems for when I’m out and about.
Highly recommended.
