Product intro and specs
The ZERO 2 is the latest pod system from VAPORESSO and the follow-up to their original Renova ZERO pod which was great for its time. VAPORESSO has become very popular over the years with great product series like Revenger, Gen, Target, Swag, and Luxe. And of course, they have made some good pod systems lately.
The ZERO 2 is available in six colors, holds up to 3 mL of juice, and comes with an internal 800 mAh battery. It takes replaceable pods with built-in coils, and there are two options currently available—a 1.0-ohm mesh pod and a 1.3-ohm ceramic CCELL pod.
ZERO 2 features
The ZERO 2 is made to be pretty basic and easy for beginners who are looking to quit smoking, but also for vapers who want something small and simple to carry around. There are no adjustments or buttons or screens. It’s a simple inhale-to-fire pod device that’s small and pocketable. It features an internal 800 mAh battery, 1A fast charging via a USB-C port, and that’s about it.
I got the “black to purple” one as a sample and I like the way they did the fade. It starts black on the bottom and fades into a shiny dark purple at the top. The color fading panel is only on one side and has a raised angular look—the other side is dark gray and flat. I like the shape, but some may not. It kind of looks like a futuristic Hot Wheels car with no wheels. But what I would have liked is for the device to have color on both sides. There are four small LED arrow lights on the front to show you your battery charge, and the lights turn on every time you vape.
For pod options, VAPORESSO kept it simple here with only two. It uses the same push-to-fill pods as the original ZERO. There is a 1.3-ohm CCELL pod that fires at around 9 watts and a 1.0-ohm mesh one that fires around 11 watts. You get one of each in the package, so you get to try both. They are easy to refill without removing the pods, but they are dark-tinted so seeing your juice level can be annoying depending on the lighting.
First impressions
While the ZERO 2 doesn’t feel like anything new and groundbreaking, it does feel like a solid device that does what it is supposed to. It’s one of these devices that would make a nice upgrade from a Juul. Having used and reviewed the original, which I did like, I’m happy that the 2 uses the same pods. They are affordable, they perform well, and have a decent coil life. I was getting between 15-20 mL from them on the original.
The pods have a 3 mL capacity which is nice since the device doesn’t burn a lot of juice. The battery lasts plenty long as well since it’s only firing at 9-11 watts with the included pod options. From a size perspective, it’s a pretty small pod. Not the smallest I’ve seen but on the smaller side for sure compared to other pod systems, since it’s very basic. Very easy to pocket.
Overall, it’s likely VAPORESSO has another good pod system with the ZERO 2, but we’ll find out in the full review coming soon. In the meantime, let me know how you feel about the ZERO 2 in the comment section below.
