I’m honored to be given the opportunity of revealing to our readers VOOPOO’s newest addition to their Drag range of e-cigarettes!
“Drum Roll Please” LOL
I’d like to introduce you to VOOPOO Drag Q!
This is of course a Mouth To Lung (MTL) and a Restricted Direct To Lung (RDTL) device that is an ideal starting point for those new to vaping.
Over the years VOOPOO has given us many kits! Some of their ranges include - Drag series, Vinci series, and the Argus range.
What Can We Expect From VOOPOO Drag Q?
This kit is available in 6 colors: Vitality Orange, Marsala, Classic Red, Chestnut, Carbon Fibre, and Galaxy Blue.
Similar to Argus Pod that I reviewed a few days ago, Drag Q is a pod system that comes equipped with VOOPOO’s ITO atomization technology which brings a tasty vaping experience.
This device has an output power of up to 25W and you can adjust this output too.
VOOPOO says Drag Q has a smart ticking air-power adjustment that is inspired by classic windup watches.
There is a hidden airflow and gradient light bar coupled with a long-lasting internal 1250mAh battery.
Design & Build Quality
Chestnut Drag Q for this review, the kit comes nicely presented in a card draw box!
ITO X Pod
Included with the kit is the newly updated ITO X Pod Tank which is very interesting.
VOOPOO normally goes down the route of magnet connections for pod tanks. This one is different and is held very firmly by a set of bearings (around the tank base) they snap into the pod bay, this is also a top-fill tank.
Materials and Parts
This tank is made of Stainless Steel and PCTG; the tank will disassemble into 3 parts; mouthpiece, fill cap, and the tank body!
While the mouthpiece is a plastic sleeve it is quite comfortable in the mouth.
The fill cap is made of stainless steel and screws on and off with a ¾ turn, the cap has adverting printed on it.
The fill port has a black rubber gasket; you poke your bottle nib into it to fill.
While the main part of this pod tank is made of plastic with the obvious metal accouterments i.e. chimney/coil guide and round base that allows connection to the Drag Q device.
Throughout my testing of the ITO X tank, I have received good flavor and vapor quality which has led to a good vaping experience on my part. Likewise, I have suffered no leaks into the pod bay at this time, not even condensation from the coil!
ITO X Pod Tank is compatible with all the current ITO coils in the ITO Platform. There is a full range of coils that cover RDL and MTL.
The kit includes 2 coils
l ITO M0 0.5Ω - RDL
l ITO M3 1.2Ω - MTL
Two other coils are available for separate purchase
l ITO M2 1.0Ω
l ITO M1 0.7Ω
I am told the Drag Q is also compatible with the earlier ITO Pod which is a bottom fill pod tank.
VOOPOO Drag Q Device
Measuring in at around 92mm tall with the pod tank in place, the width of this device is 14mm and with a depth of around 24mm, the Drag Q device has a zinc alloy body with faux leather stickers and a silicone base!
From the top
Drag Q has a rounded pod bay that contains the normal spring-loaded gold contact points.
And airflow inlet for this one is a hidden lune slot between the bay and the front of the device.
You will also see a dial on the device this is for airflow and power; as you dial up or down the power and airflow adjust together!
VOOPOO Drag Q Body
The rounded back of Drag Q has a faux leather style sticker that serves as decoration and for advertising, it is stamped with “Drag Q”.
To one side of the device in a faint font is the word “VOOPOO”.
On the other side of the device, I believe will have “Drag” printed, however as you can see mine says “Sample”.
VOOPOO Drag Q Gradient Lights
These are located on the front of the device below the action button and denote the battery state – Green, Blue, and Red.
The internal battery for this mod is 1250mAh and charged with the included Type C charge cable.
VOOPOO Drag Q - Bottom
This is where you will find the Type C Charge Port for charging the internal battery. BTW the charge port is surrounded by silicone that has all the relevant safety marks stamped into it!
Both the ITO X Pod Tank and the Drag Q device have a great design and they have a high manufacturing quality.
Quick Start Guide
VOOPOO ITO X Pod Tank
Choose one of the coils which come with the kit either 1.2Ω or 0.5Ω
A. Prime the coil with a few drops of e-liquid on all exposed cotton and press the coil into the tank.
B. Remove the fill cap and locate the fill port within the silicone stopper and fill the tank with E-liquid.
C. Let the tank stand for about 3 minutes before firing for the first time; this is so the cotton can soak up more e-liquid!
D. Then snap the ITO X pod tank into the pod bay and you’re set to go!
VOOPOO Drag Q Device
Make sure the device is fully charged before 1st use; I always check this now as a matter of course!
The Drag Q device is operated by the fire button on the front of the device.
Functions
l Click the fire button 5 times fast, to turn the device on and off.
l After 5 minutes of inactivity the device will lock itself, to continue to vape press the fire button 3 times.
l Adjust power and airflow – rotate the turn screw dial – this will adjust the output and airflow to match each other.
l Adjust the airflow alone – Hold down the power button whilst rotating the turn screw dial to just adjust the airflow.
The device does auto draw, however, I have found it to be intermittent.
Battery Indications
The device displays the battery state at a glance by the color of the LED bar…
l Green = full 100 to 60%
l Blue = half 60 to 25%
l Red = recharge needed 25 to 0%
This device has 6 built-in protections.
How Does VOOPOO Drag Q Kit Perform?
For this review, I will be using the 0.5Ω coil in the ITO X Pod Tank.
VOOPOO Drag Q Kit - In Use
I’m not a great lover of pod kits in general preferring something with a bit more oomph to it!
But I have to say Drag Q does function great with a smooth draw, good flavor, and decent vapor production!
The device has a good feel in the hand, it will make a great second carry-around device for me.
With the airflow fully open the pod tank delivers a very nice cloudy restricted direct to lung vape, albeit for me it’s a wee bit on the cool side.
Turn the airflow down for an excellent mouth-to-lung vape with good flavor!
With its novel dial, you can adjust the airflow at the same time the dial adjusts to the wattage up or down.
My Thoughts
Not being a serious mouth-to-lung vaper I opted to use the 0.5Ω coil as RDL and adjusted the airflow to suit. I have to say I am impressed with these coils I have been using the same one for well over a week and the flavor is still as good now as when first installed.
The 1250mAh internal battery and MTL style are great! Shock and horror I was able to vape for nearly 2 full days with this style of vaping!
For use as an RDL device with the airflow wide open, I obtained the 3.5 plus hours of vape time which was amazing as I am a heavy vaper!
Pros
+ Quality and Design
+ Great battery life (MTL)
+ Comfortable in the hand
+ Good flavor and vapor production
+ Beginner-friendly
+ Smooth airflow draw
Cons
- The auto draw for this Device works intermittently
- Charging time is a little slow
Final Review Verdict
My first thought was here we go again yet another pod device, I hope it doesn’t leak lol!
I don’t like most pod systems (read that as sick of them lol) however I am impressed by the flavorful smooth vapor production this one produces, and I just love the way you can see at a glance how your battery is doing!
The auto draw works 80 to 90% of the time – I’m guessing it may be just this sample device that has this error but who knows!
Would I recommend VOOPOO Drag Q?
“Yes” it will make a great starting point for those new to vaping and a great alternative to disposable vapes!
